Toshiba starts shipping 512 GB Solid State Drives (SSDs)

First announced in December, 2008, Toshiba has announced the mass production and availability if its 512 GB SSDs. At the moment the drive is only available in Toshiba’s own top-of-the-range notebook SS RX2/WA. The drives is based on 43nm NAND multi-level cell flash technology and offers 230MB/s sequential read speed and up to 180MB/s sequential write speed. It holds the distinction of being the highest capacity drive in 2.5 inch form factor.
