TSMC spends US$590 million on 40nm equipment
Digitimes reports that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has spent a total of NT$20 billion (US$590 million) on new equipment since the end of February to expand the 40nm node at its 12-inch facility. TSMC expects to start mass production on its 40nm process at Fab 12 in the second half of 2009.
