SITE UPDATE
Watch for our “official” launch
October 1, 2008
It looks like our tech site will get out of beta this weekend and we will begin posting our reviews of the latest hardware and games for you. We are concentrating on building our tech site and forums first. What you see now, is not how we visualize AlienBabelTech a year from now. We fully intend to evolve into a major entertainment site – PC users’ Holy Trinity of Tech, Gaming, and P&N (including metaphysical) – that will eventually become fully 3D-interactive. We expect our forums will also eventually transform into a virtual 3D-world powered by a game engine where we can all interact in ways that are impossible today; perhaps similar to a free MMORPG with stats and even virtual fighting for our members! We believe we have the vision, but it is you our members who will be the real engine to drive us to do this and we fully intend to be responsive to your wishes.
Our forums are unmoderated, except for enforcing ToS, and you have freedom not found anywhere else. With your new freedom comes responsibility and be aware that there is an “ignore enemy” feature that can be implemented at will, to block posts from anyone that is deemed a persistent troll. And the way you log in will determine if the forum is completely uncensored, or “safe for work”. So everyone is their own moderator – and persistent trolls will eventually have their own discussions within the main discussion while not interrupting it at all!
BFG Tech GTX280, ASUS P5e deluxe, OCZ 2x2GB PC8500 and an e8500 arrived today to join our Sapphire HD4870/512MB , VisionTek HD4870x2 and old-reliable, reference 8800GTX so we will be doing some investigations and reviews with practical suggestions for today’s gamer. An article on Micro Stutter is in the pipeline as well as the ASUS MB flash into Rampage and a comparison of PCIe 1.0 vs. 2.0 as well as the benefits of upgrading from a P35 MB’s PCIe 16x + 4x to X48’s 16x+16x. We will look at a 3+Ghz CPU’s possible bottlenecking of Crossfire X2 and X3 solutions. And we have some brand new games slated for review as well as a look back at some old favorites with suggestions for addons, mods and texture packs. We are also going to see how the older games are treated by the latest drivers and we are probably the first tech site that will *update* our articles and reviews – including our conclusions – as drivers change and circumstances merit. We look forward to having multiple reviewers review the same HW, so you will also get more than one point-of-view from ABT.
Stay tuned. Although ABT’s official launch is October 1, feel free to join our forums, read our articles and comment and give us some suggestions. Tell us what you would like to see at AlienBabelTch. This is the very beginning, right here, today!. The original Genesis was eventually followed by the Scattering at the Tower of Babel. This is Genesis II, the Gathering.
