ECS P67H2-A2 Black Deluxe Motherboard Preview
Features
There are several inescapable features of the P67H2-A2. They are plastered all over the box and they greet you on the motherboard stickers. I spoke earlier about the Qooltech III Dual Heatpipe and according to the sticker, it is supposed to keep the power circuitry some 15°C – 20°C cooler.
Next we see that the the contacts used throughout the CPU socket, the memory slots and the PCIe slots are all 15µ gold contacts. ECS prides themselves on this technology because it is said that using 3 times as much gold makes excellent contacts and provides better reliability and longer lifespan.
Also mentioned before was the fact that both Nvidia SLI and AMD CrossFireX modes are supported. Along with being able to run a multi-GPU setup of your choice, you can also run your DDR3 memory at speeds of up to 2133MHz!
Another feature clearly represented is Rapid 333. This denotes the motherboard’s support for USB 3.0, SATA 3.0 (6 Gb/s) and eSATA 3.0 (6 Gb/s). All three of these new standards are fully supported.
EZ Charger is one of the features that isn’t shown by a sticker and it is a very interesting one. Along the bottom of the board, one pair of USB headers are shrouded in grey plastic instead of white. These headers provide 3 times as much current than the regular USB ports. This allows you to charge high power devices via USB, such as the Apple iPad and others of that type.
Closing Remarks
With a Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of US $180, the ECS P67H2-A2 Black Deluxe portrays itself as strong competition in the P67 motherboard market. You will be able to find it at online stores when the Sandy Bridge CPUs come into full swing. I can’t wait to get my hands on one of these new chips.
In closing, it is imperative that I mention (again) the fact that this was just a preview and that is the reason for no performance numbers. To see some numbers you will have to stay tuned for our review of the 2nd Generation Core Family CPUs coming soon.
