INTRODUCTION & STORY

Far Cry 2 carries on the name of the original Far Cry but is in no way tied or connected to the first game. Ubisoft now brings about a new setting and a new story. Many may wonder, why even call it Far Cry?

Anyway, this game is not based on some gorgeous tropical island like its “predecessor” but brings something completely different to the forefront; something that has not been done before … Africa!

“The Jackal” references a book, Beyond Good and Evil, by Friedrich Nietzsche. He lives by Nietzsche’s doctrine that we must go beyond good and evil and that one is the judge of one’s own life and we should forget about moral doctrines, which have been taken for granted for so long.  The principle of self-preservation is of less consequence than the need for us to discharge our strength. The ultimate “superman” in the survival of the fittest – the biggest and baddest.

    The gun deterioration seems a little exaggerated judging from the pictures. A shiny pistol shouldn’t get that rusty unless the time frame the story takes place takes years to unfold.

    I will agree with you on that but consider that the game doesn’t span over that length of time. Therefore, I think that Ubisoft implemented it that way just to add that extra realism even though the time frame isn’t quite right.

    I thoroughly enjoyed Far Cry 2, even with the respawning.

    Weapon degradation became a non-issue after you purchased guns and got durability upgrades. An infinite supply of brand new versions of any gun you’d previously purchased was available at any armory.
