FarCry – Coming Soon to a Movie Screen near you !
In a mysterious forest in the Pacific Northwest, a group of soldiers is attacked. A scientist, Dr. Herman Krieger, watches this from a secret research facility, obviously pleased with the results of his work. In Seattle, star reporter Valerie Constantine has been in contact with her uncle, Max, a mercenary who is working for Dr. Krieger. . . . When Valerie cannot reach her uncle, she becomes worried. She heads to the island military facility by hiring a boat and its captain, Jack Carver. Once on the island, it doesn’t take long for the duo to find trouble.
Krieger cannot resist sharing his research with Valerie: super human soldiers, fueled by anger and adrenaline, super strong and unhindered by remorse – the ultimate killing machines. He releases his “creation” on Jack as a demonstration and it is Valerie’s missing brother, Max who is the latest victim of his genetic research. A dramatic battle ensues and damage to the lab allows more of the creatures break out into the compound. Krieger and Sanchez lose control of the facility and are forced to make a frantic attempt to escape the island alive. The enraged creatures are out for blood and it remains to be seen if any of Max is left in the creature Kreiger has created. Indeed it is the only hope Jack and Valerie have of survival
Wait a minute! That is not how the game FarCry starts! Indeed this is all from FarCryTheMovie.com. Apparently, not many in the gaming community know, Uwe Boll has been working on a movie about the immensly popular PC Game Far Cry, which pits an ex-marine against an entire army of bad guys and genetic experiments. Uwe Boll is well-known for adapting video games into feature films and he evidently gained the rights to a Far Cry movie even before the game was released. In an October 2006 interview, he said that production on Far Cry would begin in May 2007. It is expected this Summer according to best guess.
Til Schweiger plays Jack Carver, Emmanuelle Vaugier is Valerie Constantine and Udo Kier is the evil Dr. Krieger. It looks to be all action and should appeal to many gamers who played the original FarCry – or not. Some of us are waiting for the DVD. It will be difficult for a movie to live up to the standards that FarCry set for PC gaming. In fact, watch for a new review on ABT on FarCry2 this weekend!
