Just Cause 2 – PC Review
Graphics & Audio
A lot of thought went into making this game as good as it is and much credit goes to the developers. Just Cause 2 is definitely a game to add to your collection. The graphics are simply jaw-dropping! When I first played the demo, I was completely taken aback by how great it looked and how well it ran on my hardware. The demo had a half an hour time limit and also only give you a small part of the map on which to roam around (about 35 sq. km.). After that little bite, I knew that the full game would not leave a sour taste in my mouth.

I think the visuals are exquisite and the art design is top notch. I’ve always noticed that there are two styles of graphics; one is realism (like in Crysis for example) and the other is artistry (the cartoony-looking type) as seen here. Just Cause 2 strikes a virtually perfect balance between the two and does it with ease. The Avalanche Engine 2.0 upon which it is based, runs admirably, even on budget and mainstream graphics solutions that I tested it on; albeit with some reduced detail. Even then, the game still manages to look awesome.

The audio is okay but not as grand as the video. The first thing that will strike the gamer is that the voice acting is definitely not up to par. It is not god-awful but it sure could have taken some more work. To make up for that though, the sound effects are pretty cool. Explosions are realistic and if you have a nice subwoofer hooked up, you will be mighty pleased.
