Performance

The 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor in this machine lived up to expectations, delivering performance to be pleased about. The graphs speak for themselves but keep in mind that it is a mainstream notebook that is not heavy on graphics performance.

• Dell Inspiron E1501 (1.8GHz, AMD Turion X2 TL-56, AMD Radeon Xpress 1150)

wPrime 2.00

wPrime is a CPU benchmark that does recursive mathematical calculations (read: square rooting) from 1 up to the requested maximum. For the testing, the number used as the ceiling was 32,000,000. The time is recorded for the process up to 32M. Keep in mind that this benchmark is multi-threaded so it make full use of all available cores.

3DMark 06

3DMark06 is a PC benchmark suite designed to test the DirectX9 performance of your graphics card.

HDTune

HD Tune is a Hard Disk utility which has the following functions:

• Benchmark: measures the performance
• Info: shows detailed information
• Health: checks the health status by using SMART
• Error Scan: scans the surface for errors
• Temperature display

Today we are just interested in the benchmarks and the temperature.

The HDTune benchmarks shows that the included hard disk drive performs really well with minimal CPU overhead. We also see that the drive hovers around 45°C – 46°C under load.
